Nominations for 2020 Board of Directors due Sep 30, 2019

All members are encouraged to get more involved and contribute to the Canadian Chapter of ACHE by participating on the Board or a Committee in 2020!

With the recent changes in the Chapter Bylaws, the nomination process for the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chapter of ACHE has changed this year. We’ve consolidated the Chapter into three regions: East, Central, and West. Each region will have a minimum of two Directors. In addition, another six positions will be allocated across regions based on the membership profile as of the end of the previous year. There are currently Chapter Board openings in every region as noted below:

  • East: 3 positions in total and available for election process (PEI/NB/NFLD &Labrador/Quebec)
  • Central: 6 positions in total, 5 positions available for election process (ON)
  • West: 3 positions in total and available for election process (BC/AB/MB/SK/NWT/YK/Nunavut)

Due to turnover and limited numbers of ACHE members in some provinces and the territories, there is a particular need for more representation from the East and West regions. We also have a need for individuals who are willing to be an Officer (e.g., Vice-Chair, Secretary, or Treasurer).

The following current Board members have terms ending are not running for re-election: Frances Roesch, FACHE, Board Chair (term limit constraint) from Ontario, and Paula Neves, PhD, Board Secretary, from Ontario, as well as David Matear, FACHE, representing the West region. They have served on the board with dedication and we thank them for their service.

The Board of Directors will now serve based on a calendar year with the incoming Board term starting as of January 1, 2020. Therefore, the timing of the election process has been revised and the nomination process is beginning now.

Expression of interest application forms are due by September 30, 2019. Elections will be held in October. A tie-breaker vote, if needed, will occur in November. Then the Chapter will announce the election outcome in November and prepare for a smooth transition process into January 2020.

This is also a great time to consider participating on a committee (e.g., Communications, Programs, Membership and Advancement). You are invited to send an expression of interest email to me. Your name will be taken forward to the Committee Chair. If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else for the upcoming Board or a committee, please contact me at dswerhone@gmail.com.

Please consider getting involved in our Chapter and being a part of a very positive movement going forward for Canada. Remember, the deadline for Board applications is September 30, 2019.
